the first time i played with pigs was during grade school years. i was at a friend's house when her older (& thus wiser) sister suggested we roll pigs. since the family was from texas, i wasn't quite sure what we were getting into... i was relieved when a small box carrying two tiny pigs appeared
pocket-sized swine
rolling, or playing, pigs became a regular pastime at my friend's house. despite the game's simplicity (players take turns rolling the pigs & earn/loose points based on how the pair lands; first player to 100 points wins), it usually resulted in rowdy affair: the circle of pig-rollers grew, voices raised as pigs collided & caused their roller to return to 0, "piggy" players attempt to win in one turn & repeatedly "pig out"...
it's a relatively quick game as rolls regularly bring in 20-40 points , it can be played anywhere with a surface (at a bar, on a plane tray, on a dining table, on a boat - all locations tested) & all you need is in the little case (swine, reference card for points, score pad, pencils) for portable fun!
i had all but forgotten about pigs when i happened upon a "travel" version in a toy store (a toysRus in florida, to be precise) a few years ago & have purchased 6-8 more sets of swine since, gifting those most fortunate. my go-to for most everything, including pigs, is amazon... here's a link:
